Found Footage: The Making of the Patterson Project is all the proof that we desperately need more horror mockumentaries.

This hilarious and incredibly charming horror-comedy follows a group of filmmakers trying to make a bigfoot found footage film, only for production to be thrown into a tailspin by both practical filmmaking issues and... something else.

Perhaps best likened to a harmonious fusion of The Blair Witch Project and This Is Spinal Tap, the film manages to be both tense and funny, serving as a tribute to not only the found footage subgenre but low-budget filmmaking as a whole, while maintaining an air of unease.

It won't be for all tastes - especially those with no love for found footage or films that peel back the fourth wall - but as recent horror comedies go, this is one of the smartest and most inventive in a good minute, and absolutely deserving of cult classic status.
