Predicting How 2019's Biggest Movies Will End
6. Woody Sacrifices Himself To Save The Toys - Toy Story 4
Many Toy Story fans are still arguing against the "necessity" of a fourth entry into the beloved franchise, but Tom Hanks certainly stoked the fires of intrigue recently when he declared that the new movie's ending was incredibly difficult for him to perform, and that it marks "a moment in history."
At this point in the series, where else could Pixar really go other than commit to killing off one of its heroes?
Toy Story 3 was a heart-wrenching meditation on the impermanence of everything, where the toys were spared from oblivion at the very last minute, and at the time, that really felt as far as they could go in a movie aimed at children.
But teaching kids about death in a more upfront way isn't unheard of in family films - Marley and Me, anyone? - and there would be undeniable poignancy in Woody (Hanks) sacrificing himself to save the rest of the toys.
Tonally it will be incredibly tough to pull off, but Pixar has a track record of nailing the emotional stuff, so don't be surprised if you're left a sobbing wreck by the end of it.
Extra marks if Randy Newman performs an ultra-sad new version of "You've Got A Friend in Me" over the end credits.
