4. The X-Men Franchise Ends - Dark Phoenix

Look, you don't release a trailer set to a cover of The Doors' iconic "The End" without intending to convey a certain sense of finality to your audience.

Given that Dark Phoenix is set to be the last entry into the current X-Men continuity, it's all-too-apt if the film decisively hammers the nails into the franchise's coffin, clearing the table for an inevitably rebooted version in the MCU.

It's no secret that the movie underwent several weeks of re-shoots near the end of the summer, and it's easy to believe rumours that this was in order to give the film a decisive franchise ending as opposed to its original, open-ended finale.

Whether that means the X-Men are all wiped out or Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) sacrifices herself to save Earth - more likely the latter - you can expect something close to a concrete, closed-off ending for these characters which aims to give them a fond-ish farewell.
