Ranking: 10 Highest Grossing Movies Of Summer 2017

6. The Fate Of The Furious

Box Office: $1.239 billion (#1)

Surprise, surprise, the latest Fast and the Furious movie is easily the highest-grossing blockbuster of the summer (beating Despicable Me 3 by almost $300 million). Though it didn't recoup the astronomical $1.516 billion haul of Furious 7 (undeniably aided by Paul Walker's death), its huge international appeal nevertheless drove it to incredible profits.

Though this feels like the most workmanlike and familiar of the four movies since the franchise was transformed into a heist series with Fast Five, The Fate of the Furious is still a ludicrously entertaining ride, shot through by its charming, ever-growing cast, and the now-customary, eye-popping action sequences.

Plus, if you ever wanted to see Jason Statham fighting the bad guys while carrying a baby, this is 100% the film for you. On a tonal level, it's the perfect mix of earnest and silly, a warm, wet, unapologetically sloppy kiss of an action film if there ever was one.
