Ranking All The New Movie Trailers From Worst To Best

5. Fantastic Four

In a world of time-travelling mutants, A.I. battling heroes and space-faring rogues, the Fantastic Four seem a pretty antiquated superhero team. That's why the 2015 version of the team is taking its cues entirely from the Ultimates comics, is helmed by a hot up-and-coming director and features more against-type casting than Heath Ledger could have dreamed of. Naturally, all those developments just came across as a desperate attempt to drag the 1961 team reluctantly into the modern day, personified by a teaser that couldn't decide if it was advertising the team's new reboot or an Interstellar rip-off. The new trailer is definitely a step up, providing a more coherent grasp of character and story, but it still suffers from a lack of a distinct personality. That Nolan darkness, which worked great for Batman but is less applicable to Stretch Armstong and co., is still there, only juxtaposed with lots of light-banter that make this feel more like an Avengers riff; an odd, far-reaching and likely financially motivated set of inspirations to be sure. Add to that so much fading through black that the two minute clip should come with a strobe light warning and it's still hard to shake the feeling that the film is more than a little pointless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rRoD28-WgU
