Ranking Every Billion Dollar Movie - From Worst To Best

19. Jurassic World

Universal Pictures

Box Office: $1,671,713,208

Jurassic World is almost like an exercise in giving an established audience exactly what they want. Even with the diminished returns of the two other Jurassic Park sequels, there was a lot of pulling power in the dinosaur franchise and Universal did exactly the right thing to feed on that. They went full nostalgic.

The result is two hours of fan-bait, with new charming leads (particularly Chris Pratt, who was in the midst of his assault on everyone's senses), great effects and good old-fashioned monster movie thrills. Add on top of that the familiarity of the relationships, the detestable human villain (played by Vincent D'Onofrio) and a hero moment for the original T-Rex and it all felt like catching magic in a bottle again.

It's criticised for being a little silly, but it's still a model of what a lot of blockbusters should aspire to be.
