Ranking Every Upcoming Spider-Man Film Spin-Off Worst To Best

3. Black Cat

Marvel/Sideshow

Although often considered a rip-off of DC's Catwoman, Felicia Hardy's characterisation as a morally ambiguous femme fatale actually predates the dynamic Selina Kyle now shares with Bruce Wayne, and it's with that in mind that it's so weird the character is yet to appear on the big screen.

More frustrating, perhaps, is that while it's great to see Sony actively pursuing a Black Cat film, the chances of the character ever interacting with Spider-Man will effectively be scuppered as a result. Factor in how much of the character's history is shared with the web-slinger, as well as the fact they almost appeared in the cancelled fourth entry in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man series, and the fact Cat's coming to the big screen this way is certainly frustrating.

Still, there is cause for excitement. Although Black Cat was originally planned to star in team-up movie with Silver Sable, the two characters will now go their separate ways and writer/director Gina Prince-Bythewood is currently altering the script as a result. Prince-Bythewood actually directed the pilot to Marvel's Cloak & Dagger, so she has plenty of experience with the mythos and could easily make a success out of the feature - especially if it spotlights Hardy's father and delves into the legacy of the Black Cat identity.
