Box Office: The Tupac biopic opened above expectations but has still only barely recouped its $40 million budget. After a strong opening the film fell off a cliff in it second weekend, dropping an insane 78%.

The unfortunate combination of negative reviews and a brutal 140 minute run-time are likely responsible, ensuring the movie won't repeat the success of 2015's Straight Outta Compton (which made a stonking $201.6 million).

Verdict: Though Demetrius Shipp Jr. gives an absolutely magnificent performance as Tupac, All Eyez on Me is a stamina-drainingly overlong, weirdly uninteresting look at the iconic rapper's life, dabbling in too many biopic cliches and being unable to shake a weirdly low-rent conception despite the pretty sizable budget. Pac deserved better.
