Ranking March 2019's Movies From Worst To Best

7. The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind Chiwetel Ejiofor
Netflix

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 86% (7.28/10)

Box Office: Direct to Netflix.

Verdict: There's no denying that the life story of Malawian engineer William Kamkwamba is well worth telling, and despite the rather generic, down-the-line feel of this biopic, writer-director Chiwetel Ejiofor does a mostly fine job in his filmmaking debut.

Maxwell Simba's performance as Kamkwamba is the beating heart and vibrant soul of this movie, ensuring it never loses sight of his young genius even when Ejiofor's script starts to wander somewhat.

Ejiofor is himself quite terrific in the role of William's sceptical father, and the joy of seeing William complete his wind turbine project in the third act is an easy, uplifting joy.
