12. Happy Death Day

RottenTomatoes Score: 69% (6/10)

Box Office: Another easy hit for Blumhouse Productions, the Groundhog Day-inspired horror blew past box office projections and has made almost $70 million against a $4.8 million price tag. Don't be surprised if a sequel is on the cards before you know it.

Verdict: Though it doesn't quite make the most of its terrific concept, and the PG-13 rating hurts it immeasurably, Happy Death Day is nevertheless elevated by Jessica Rothe's charming and charismatic performance.

Much more could've been done with the idea, but on its own terms as a teen-friendly horror, it's well-made, funny and impressively acted.
