Ranking October 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

13. The Glass Castle

RottenTomatoes Score: 48% (6/10)

Box Office: Failing to meet even its meager $5 million opening weekend projection, the initially Oscar-hyped drama was no doubt sunk by mediocre reviews and never gained much traction, failing to crack $20 million worldwide thus far.

Verdict: Talk about a wasted opportunity. Short Term 12 director Destin Daniel Cretton delivers a middling adaptation of Jeannette Walls's 2005 memoir, squandering fine work from Woody Harrelson and Brie Larson in particular.

The real problem with the movie, though, is its uneven tone and tendency to veer into emotionally manipulative territory. The central message is never particularly convincing and some might even find it offensive to victims of abuse.
