Ranking The X-Men Movie Villains - From Worst To Best

4. Bolivar Trask And The Sentinels

2014€™s X-Men: Days Of Future Past not only delivered the fan-servicing mix-up of the casts of the original trilogy and the prequel films, but also, at long last, realised a perennial X-Men foe on-screen, along with their creator. In that role was Peter Dinklage who does a great job as Bolivar Trask, the callous scientist who experiments on mutants. However, it is the outcome of these experiments that hold the real fear factor of the film €“ those mutant-murdering, apocalypse-causing robots, the Sentinels. Bringing about a terrible future where mutant kind - and a great deal of humanity besides - has been wiped out, the Sentinels are an unstoppable Terminator-like force who slice and dice their way through our heroes and, in doing so, create some of the franchise's most memorable moments.

3. Mystique

While she was never the lead villain of an X-Men movie (in fact, her biggest role comes in Days Of Future Past, which is all about her redemption), Mystique gets such a high spot on this list because she is simply one of the most successful elements of the franchise. Before Jennifer Lawrence took the role in the prequels and made her more morally-confused, Rebecca Romjin played Mystique in the first three movies as a freakish femme fatale - with the emphasis on the €˜fatale.€™ The right-hand woman to Magneto, Mystique€™s shapeshifting abilities made her a difficult foe for the X-Men, while her eye-catching look and vivacious personality meant she stole every scene she was in. As great as Lawrence is, it was nice when Mystique had a bit of mystery to her.
