Sin City: A Dame To Kill For - 15 Easter Eggs & References You Must See

7. Almost Clive This one is very much a case of an Easter Egg that almost happened: Clive Owen was set to reprise the role of Dwight McCarthy in the final scenes of the A Dame to Kill For section of the sequel, playing the post-op face of the character, but thanks to scheduling conflicts with TV show The Knick he wasn't available to shoot the cameo. There were of course other casting changes - mostly through enforcement: the deaths of both Brittany Murphy and Michael Clarke Duncan led to changes, with Dennis Haysbert playing Manute, and Shellie being retired altogether as a mark of respect to Murphy. Then Devon Aoki's pregnancy at the start of production meant that Miho had to be recast, with Jamie Chung replacing Aoki. And in a move more likely based on quality, Jeremy Piven replaced Michael Madsen as Bob, despite the original actor having actively canvassed for that role in the first place. The casting could have been a lot different, as Johnny Depp was originally offered the lead role, but had to decline, allowing Joseph Gordon-Levitt to take it, having himself turned down both GuardiansOf The Galaxy (2014) and Godzilla (2014) for the privilege.
