Spider-Man: What Every Major Movie Villain ALMOST Looked Like

2. Rhino - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Rhino Concept And Final

The decision to include Rhino in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 wasn't exactly universally loved (and the decision to cast Paul Giamatti was even more odd) and the giant mech suit that replaced the traditional Rhino look from the comics didn't really appeal to fans either.

You can see what they were trying to do with it, but a combination of poor effects and Giamatti's off-putting performance made him one of the worst Spidey movie villains ever.

Some of the alternate designs by Robert Simons went with a similar sort of design, but made Rhino far smaller and his mech suit more of an adaptable armour. A number of them also had him transform into an actual rhino form...

The genesis of that particular idea went through a number of different concept designs...

And at the other end of the scale, artist Tsvetomir Georgiev went with a more traditional Rhino look, albeit with heavy duty armour instead of lycra...

And even more slim-line was the design done by Edge of Tomorrow‘s Steffen Reichstadt, wjho tried something considerably different...
