Spider-Man: Homecoming - 13 Things We Already Know
4. Jon Watts Is Directing
Following on from Marvel's model of casting relatively unknown - or at least unexpeted directors for their MCU films - in order to ensure they fit into the overall vision rather than making disparate auteur-driven films, Homecoming's gig has gone to Jon Watts.
Incredibly, Watts proved his commitment at the job application stage by getting a Spider-Man tattoo on his chest to "make him stand out", which is a remarkable sign of commitment. Clearly Marvel saw enough in his spirit and in his previous two films - Clown and Cop Car - to suggest that he's the right man for the job.
With only those two films to his name, it's hard to even pin Watts down to an overall style, but we at least know he knows how to direct comedy, having also helmed the first season of parody show The Onion News Network back in 2011.
