Star Trek: 10 Exact Moments We Knew These Characters Were Doomed

6. Sybo - Wolf In The Fold

Wolf In The Fold is one of the few true episodes of horror in Star Trek: The Original Series. It was written by veteran horror-thriller author Robert Bloch, who was at the time most famous for writing Psycho. However, he had also famously penned several stories about the infamous Jack the Ripper.

It is the Ripper who kills in this episode, though it takes most of the episode to discover this. Having said that, there is a young woman brutally stabbed in a smokey alley at the very beginning. A female officer is later killed, leading to the moment when Sybo, the clairvoyant wife of the colony administrator, offers to conduct a seance to find the killer.

At this point, the audience can effectively set a stopwatch. The question no longer remains as to whether or not she will die, but when. And it's very quick. The lights go down, she begins to speak, she can hear the mind of the killer - then she screams, the lights come up, and to no one's surprise, she has been killed. There is a small mercy in the fact that the killer is caught not long after this.
