8. Casual Mom Slavery

In Episode 1 the Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jin happens upon a slave boy and his slave mother. The son ends up showing massive force capabilities and may even be the "chosen one" form an ancient Jedi prophecy.

So after many gambles and bets, Qui-Gon ends up freeing the boy to become Anakin Skywalker, Jedi apprentice but fails to save the mom form eternal hard slavery.

The fact that while Qui-Gon obviously dies from his fight with Darth Maul and thus could not save Anakin's mom, there remained many other Jedi that could have stopped the slavery on Tatooine, or even the newly elected chancellor Palpatine, or Amidala who saw the slavery firsthand, including Shmi.

But no one comes to save Anakin's mom, and she ends up being sold off to Cliegg Lars, who finally frees her and even marries her. But that still seems weird how Shimi is never saved even before the clone wars, and instead was randomly sold off to a guy who married her in a situation probably like Beauty and the Beast, plus how that random slave buyer was also the father of Uncle Owen from the first Star Wars film.
