Star Wars Episode 8: 6 Major Details Lucasfilm Just Revealed
3. Benicio Del Toro Confirmed (At Last)
Benicio Del Toro has been linked to Star Wars Episode VIII for over half a year now, and the actor himself has even openly discussed the character he's set to play, but now we have proper, 100% official confirmation he'll be joining the cast in a galaxy far, far away. He's the first of three very exciting additions and, with there being much speculation over his involvement, the one we potentially know the most about. All signs point towards him playing a villain, although with Kylo Ren, Hux, Phasma and Snoke all returning (that's right - not a single key villain was killed in The Force Awakens) it's hard to see where he'd fit in on the First Order side of things (and the rumours Thrawn will be appearing in Season 3 of Star Wars: Rebels means my theory he'll be the Grand Admiral is very unlikely to come true). Instead, I'd take his statement "I don't know if he's a villain" as more than just fancy words about bad guys having logical motivation; he could be part of another, likely morally dubious if not all-out evil, third party (think Jabba in the originals).
