Star Wars Episode 9: 15 Big Questions From Everything We Know So Far

12. Who Is Naomi Ackie Playing?

Another of the new additions, Naomi Ackie was in the excellent Lady Macbeth but is otherwise an unknown quantity to mainstream audiences, and yet she might have the biggest role of the newcomers.

While no character details were revealed, Ackie fits with a previous casting call for a character known as Caro. The call was looking for an African-American actress to be a "leader and problem solver, smart with a great sense of humour and a strong will" and who has a "captivating naturalness and ease to her manner."

Ackie isn't an African-American, but she is a black actress who fits within the age range they were looking for, so it fits that she's taking on the role of Caro. That itself, though, brings questions. Is she a new Jedi, or simply a new Resistance fighter? And, as the question is already being asked and there admittedly aren't too many people of colour in the series, might she be related to Lando? There's already speculation she's his daughter, and the timing with his return would fit, but it'd be just as interesting to see her play someone new.
