Star Wars Rogue One: 10 Major Concerns From Trailer 3
2. Have They Given Too Much Away?
As everyone these days knows, modern day movie trailers are notorious for giving far too much away.
Mystery is a largely forgotten word in movies with all the exposure and a lot of the initial mysteries in Rogue One have now been well and truly spoilt. We now know Mads Mikkelsen's role in proceedings, whether Darth Vader will feature and how Donnie Yen's blind warrior Chirrut Îmwe can kill people with such precision instead of just swinging a big stick around and hitting as many allies as enemies.
The trailer even seems to give away the origin of the call sign 'Rogue One'. It's made up on the spot. Ruined.
No doubt there will still be a few surprises in store, but giving away so much of the general outline is a shame. Episode VII managed to keep a lot of things secret right up until release and it would have been good to have seen that pulled off again. Instead we'll be walking into Rogue One knowing pretty much exactly what's going to happen, and that won't be just because its a prequel.
