Star Wars Rogue One: 10 Major Questions We Still Have

4. Where Are All The Jedi?

Fallen statues mean that it doesn't look so good for the scattered Jedi still alive in the Star Warsverse. The image of a crumbled lightsaber Jedi in the sand looks like it could come from Jedha - the first Jedi temple that Luke was looking for in The Force Awakens.

Edwards has foreshadowed that we shouldn't spend much time looking for where the Jedi are, telling the Star Wars Celebration Convention:

"The absence of the Jedi is omnipresent - it hangs over the whole movie - and it comes down to a group of individuals that don't have magical powers but have to somehow bring hope to the galaxy."

It would be in keeping with Anakin's destruction of all the known Jedi, forcing which few remain into hiding. With The Force Awakens set four films after Rogue One we are yet to see any proof that the Force still exists. J.J. Abrams confirmed that Kylo Ren wasn't a Sith, and only that he was Force Sensitive.

That pretty much scuppers the hoped plans that Samuel L. Jackson could cameo as Mace Windu. Despite his apparent demise in Episode III many people (and Jackson himself) have held out for the return of the purple sabered Jedi.

Edwards's words may sound grim for the Jedi, but that isn't to say we won't see elements of the Force striking out screens. The trailers heavily show Donnie Yen's Chirrut Îmwe. Although he lacks the typical Force abilities he is said to be connected to it. Can we expect some Degobah style training and the blind warrior finding his powers?
