Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Fears Alleviated By The Teaser Trailer

7. The Galaxy Looks Lived-In Again

The Fear: The sets would feel too "new". Why The Teaser Eased That Fear: One of the biggest criticisms that the prequel trilogy faced in the wake of release honed in on the fact that cinema's favourite galaxy far, far away didn't "look" the same as it did in the original movies. Which is another way of saying: the Star Wars universe is supposed to look tatty, battered, old, gritty and - above all - lived in. The galaxy has more in common with that of a western than most sci-fi films, after all. And going by the teaser trailer, J.J. Abrams has taken this particular complaint on board (and then some) to ensure that his sequel matches up to the world depicted in those original films - things look dusty and beaten, exactly as they should. Because, really, one of the best things about Star Wars is the way in which it depicts a fantasy world well past its prime. The prequels kind of forgot about that.
