Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Films Ranked Worst To Best (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
8. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
Score: 52%
Critic Consensus: "Burdened by exposition and populated with stock characters, The Phantom Menace gets the Star Wars prequels off to a bumpy -- albeit visually dazzling -- start."
As it was the beginning of the prequel trilogy, the Phantom Menace was met with much excitement as a film that was set to showcase the Jedi in their prime. However, the Phantom Menace suffered from tonal shifts, leaving the film feeling disjointed at times.
Episode I is considered one of the worst films in the Star Wars franchise, mainly due to the overabundance of slapstick humour portrayed through the infamous Jar Jar Binks.
However, while this film is considered one of the worst in the franchise, it also gifted the universe with the terrific character Darth Maul. Although Maul did not receive a lot of screen time in the film, the character of would go on to become a major player in The Clone Wars and Rebels animated TV shows due to his popularity in this film and his rivalry with Obi-Wan Kenobi. Plus, 'Duel of Fates' is one of the greatest lightsaber duels in Star Wars history.
