Steven Spielberg: EVERY Movie Ranked Worst To Best
15. Amistad (1997)
Absorbing, important, and meticulous in its detail, Amistad is a historical drama that features some of Steven Spielberg's most powerful sequences and character development.
Telling the true story of slave ship La Amistad and its 1839 mutiny which saw its enslaved prisoners take control of the ship, the film is at once a powerful slice of history and a expertly crafted legal thriller that pits good, moral men against a broken system.
It may have taken some liberties with the plot, but with Spielberg's amazing direction and an all-star cast led by Matthew McConaughey, Djimon Hounsou, Anthony Hopkins and Morgan Freeman, Amistad is still a staggering achievement.
