Suicide Squad: 13 Biggest Questions We Want Answered
10. What Will The Tone Be Like?
The tone of this movie, and indeed the DCEU as a whole, is something that the filmmakers really need to get right.
A big criticism of both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman was that they were grim, grey, joyless affairs, without so much as anything even resembling a smile coming close to the screen.
Suicide Squad, meanwhile, has looked a bit more mixed. Given the characters, it should be a bit more offbeat, pitching somewhere close to Guardians of the Galaxy, but with a much darker edge since these outcasts are villains, not heroes. At times it has seemed like that, with the great use of music in the trailers, and there's been a lot of colour in the promotional material. Other moments have looked pretty dark though, and then there were those reshoots - some reports claimed it was to add more humour, the director said it was to add action.
What we end up with remains to be seen, but let's just hope it isn't a mess of all those things (I've avoided actually reading reviews, but guess this is something they probably tackle).
