Throughout Batman's cinematic history, there have been flashes of the character's legendary prowess for detective work. Bruce Wayne tracking down Selina Kyle in The Dark Knight Rises is a great example, but it was little more than a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment. There has never been a movie that truly shows why the Caped Crusader earned his reputation as the world's greatest detective.

Enter Matt Reeves, whose plan is reportedly to bring the world a Batman movie unlike anything before, well and truly embodying the noir genre. Of course, there is bound to be plenty of action, as it is a superhero movie, but it apparently won't rely on these big set pieces quite as much as previously.

Bruce Wayne having to use his detective skills will not only be a relatively new take on the character on the big screen, it could well be another reason to believe we'll see some aspect of The Long Halloween.

Following the trail of a serial killer would be a fascinating way to introduce the world to Robert Pattinson's version of Bruce Wayne, before potentially ramping up the action to more typical Batman levels in the following two films.
