Thor: Ragnarok - 12 Major Reveals From The New Images

9. It Has A Distinct Sci-Fi Feel

The images confirm what Taika Waititi has already said about the film being a “’70s/’80s sci-fi fantasy" - you can almost taste Star Trek in those set designs, and the characters all appear to look like they're from the world of The Fifth Element (which itself owed a lot to that period too).

Waititi revealed the inspiration back when the film's new logo came out, and these shots absolutely add more context to that design decision:

“The new logo suits the ’70s / ’80s sci-fi fantasy that this film is becoming. I made an effort to ignore the fact there are other Thor films... The tone is very different. Think CRAZY. I think [Thor: Ragnarok] will be one of the most adventurous and most “out there” of all the Marvel movies. It’s a crazy movie.”

If I had to guess, this looks like an interior on Sakaar, and the fact that Thor is wearing his armour suggests he's mid-escape? Perhaps he's come to the more opulent chambers to find the Grandmaster?
