Jessica Chastain is of course one of our finest actors, and her few occasional forays into horror have generally bore ripe fruit, but her new film Other Mommy will allow her to showcase a whole other side of her acting chops - as the villain.
In this adaptation of Josh Malerman's novel Incidents Around the House, Chastain will play both a mother, Ursula (Jessica Chastain), and the titular other - a supernatural entity which assumes the guise of Ursula.
From the trailer it's clear that Chastain is having an absolute blast playing the uncanny other mother - her pristine outward appearance belying how utterly off everything she says and does appears to be.
It's always a delight watching an A-lister go absolute ham with heightened genre material, and so regardless of how the film turns out as a whole, expect critics to trip over themselves as they praise Chastain's wildly go-for-broke turn.
