Wonder Woman Review: 7 Ups & 4 Downs
4. It's Terrifically Paced
Superhero movies can be so needlessly bloated that there was good reason to be a little worried about Wonder Woman's 141-minute run-time, but it's actually one of the better-paced comic book movies of recent times, and for the most part justifies its beefy length.
The film takes its time introducing audiences to Themiscyra before throwing her out into the world, and thanks to a combination of strong writing and entertaining action, the first two acts in particular just sail by, and it absolutely doesn't feel as long as it is.
Sure, it gets more monotonous in act three, but it's impressive overall how well the film plays even when there are relatively long stretches without action. Rather than delivering an over-indulgent end product as many perhaps expected, Jenkins makes great use of her time and respects the audience's.
