10 3D Zelda Moments That Left You Speechless

Being set at the very beginning of the franchise’s timeline, we got to know how Hyrule came to be, why the Master Sword exists, how the kingdom was first founded, and Ganon’s deeper origins, among many other things. We felt connected to the world and its characters like never before.

This was also the most time we, and by extension Link, had ever spent with the titular Zelda, truly getting to know her personality and see her develop in a way not seen for over twenty-five years. So when Zelda, in a noble act of selflessness, seals herself in crystal in order to keep Demise at bay, we were right there with Link, desperately banging his hands on the crystal in order to reach her.

And we all truly felt it when she asked, in a callback to an exchange at the beginning of the game “This time, when all of this is over, will you come wake me up?” With the iconic Zelda’s Lullaby playing all the while, it makes the emotional connection that much more potent.
