10 Actors Who Reprised Iconic Roles For Video Games
8. Michael Biehn - Aliens: Colonial Marines
A quick way to make an Aliens fan angry is to bring up the deaths of Hicks and Newt in Alien 3, since killing two major characters off-screen is rarely a popular decision. Hicks death was pretty final too since his head was crushed by a pole and he was later cremated.
The movie had a lot of fans in developer Gearbox Software, who decided to make Colonial Marines a direct follow-up to the events of Aliens. This required a leap of logic in several areas since the planet was nuked at the end. In the game, it turns out the nuke did the same amount of damage as a wet firework, and left no radiation to boot.
An ever bigger leap was the reveal Hicks was actually alive and well, and it was really another character who died in his pod; who happened to have the exact same bandages he was wearing. The explanation is total fan-fiction nonsense, and original actor Michael Biehn never sounded thrilled to be back.
He later claimed the developers weren’t all that energetic either, and boy does it show in the final game.
