As the long-awaited sequel to the real-time strategy giant, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty had a lot of fans to please. And while StarCraft II is an excellent title, the expansion pack titled Heart of the Swarm is where Blizzard hit intro gold. The opening CG movie of Heart of the Swarm is a perfectly executed appetiser for what is to come. It's presented in such a high-quality atmosphere, you can't help but marvel in the outstanding feats of artistry that Blizzard is accomplishing. Huge, epic battle sequences with massive amounts of fireworks and even a bit of a contained narrative in its own right. Zerg and Terran forces are engaged in a humongous war, and you've got a front row seat. We also get to see more of Sarah Kerrigan as the visually fantastic Queen of Blades, always a treat. The production values on this sequence are tremendous, with absolutely incredible animation and some of the best visual effects work ever seen in a CG opening. There are some really pure artists at work in this and you can see that their hard work pays off, setting a grand stage for the amazing game that is soon to follow.
