10 Amazing Video Game Missions That Got Cut
5. Expanded Civil War - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The choice between the Stormcloaks and the Imperials in Skyrim feels about as substantial as choosing which shoe to put on first. Sure, there are some minor changes to the jarls that rule the provinces, and a few houses burn down in the process of conquering Skyrim for your favored side, but aside from this, who you pick doesn't matter.
The Civil War questline is a lacklustre experience at best, which is a shame because, according to Skyrim's scripts, the war for Skryim's independence was supposed to be much more expansive.
Instead of clearing random forts for your favored side, the questline originally included its own unique mechanics, such as city defence missions, securing resources, sabotaging enemy supply lines, and even some wacky stuff like recruiting giants to fight for your cause.
Best of all, the questline was non-linear, meaning that regardless of whether you were winning or losing battles, the civil war would go on, and the enemy side could potentially win even if you didn't join them.
It was a much more dynamic experience from the looks of it, but like most ambitious Bethesda concepts, it was eventually dumbed down to a bunch of buggy NPCs and basic quest objectives.
