10 Amazing Video Game Rewards Stupidly Locked Behind 100% Completion

8. Survivor Difficulty - The Last Of Us

Assassin's Creed Valhalla
Naughty Dog

The original Last of Us was an incredibly atmospheric game. A huge part of it was due to the fact that it was able to portray the reality of living in a post-apocalyptic world in a deeply authentic way. The enemies were acting smart, the stealth sections were building a proper level of suspense, and the resources you found on your way were limited and forced you to use them reasonably.

All of these elements comprised the game's atmosphere, which was only further emphasized by the game's hardest difficulty level, "Survivor." Survivor mode made the post-apocalyptic lives of Ellie and Joel even harsher, but because of it, the player's experience with the game was all the richer. Each decision you made seemed to have more meaning, and every moment of struggle on your way to Colorado felt more dramatic.

Unfortunately, in order to play The Last of Us on Survivor mode, the player had to beat the game on lower difficulty settings first. While this is a common practice amongst game developers, in the case of The Last of Us, this unnecessary lock sabotaged the initial experience the players had with the game.
