10 Amazing Video Games You Can Get For Under £5
7. Gears Of War Trilogy
This is a bit of a cheat but, considering you could get all three of these for just over £5 they are worth an entry. It’s difficult to just recommend one of the trilogy as you really need to play all three to fully appreciate the story being told.
The first game is easily the weakest of the three as Epic games were still getting to grips with the mechanics and design of their world. That is not to say it is a bad game, far from it in fact as it pioneered the ‘stop ‘n’ pop’ gunplay that became so popular during the last generation and introduced the world to the Lancer: a machine gun/chainsaw hybrid which is still one of the most impressive weapons in gaming history.
The second entry is when Gears found its feet as it tells a much more in depth, complex story, introduces new enemies and characters, and just generally feels more epic with a number of jaw dropping set pieces and a story that takes you down to the depths of the locust lair.
The third entry, whilst being very much more of the same, was a great send off to Marcus Fenix and Co. with a number of innovative new enemies that made you rethink your strategy on the fly, and a satisfying conclusion to the story.
Throw in some revolutionary (for the time) multiplayer and you have a set of games that will keep you entertained for days on end.
