10 Anime Based On Video Games You Need To See
6. Dota: Dragon's Blood
The words "Netflix Original Anime Series" isn't always the most promising phrase, and that goes double when there is a video game adaptation tied alongside it too. However, Dota: Dragon's Blood goes above and beyond to rinse the taste of poor Netflix adaptations out of your mouth and does a great job of it.
Based on the classic Valve MOBA Dota 2, this 2021 series follows a Dragon Knight named Davion who has his soul merged with an elder dragon and sets out to stop a demon called Terrorblade from stealing the souls of all living dragons.
Dota: Dragon's Blood is an excellent title, as it had quite an insurmountable task when it came to bringing this game's lore into a fully-fledged narrative. It starts simply but eventually introduces characters and concepts all over the place, turning it into a massive (albeit convoluted) fantasy epic.
There's a luscious style to the visuals, and plenty of great action scenes, which make it easy to digest despite the sheer amount of lore that gets thrown your way. It will be a big learning curve if you're new to Dota, but if you adore the games, then it'll be a great chance to see the multiple threads sewn together.
