Plenty of people have a thing or two to say about visual novels. Some don't consider them to be true gaming experiences, whereas others love the medium and the small amounts of player interaction you're given. Whatever your thoughts on them, they're still a big part of the industry and have generated some great franchises.

Fate/Stay Night is an anime based on a visual novel series of the same name. It follows an amateur mage named Shirou Emiya as he gets involved in a massive conflict known as the "Holy Grail War". It's full of magic, adventure and plenty of visual charm.

Now, watching this whole saga isn't as simple as a typical anime, as it comes in many different forms (such as Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, Fate/Zero and the Heaven's Feel movies) but, if you grab yourself a decent watch guide, then you'll be all set to start this epic anime journey.

Watching as the show evolves into a massive set of narratives and characters is a delight, and its vast world-building will keep you entertained for hours on end.
