10 Anime Based On Video Games You Need To See
3. Dragon Quest: The Adventure Of Dai
When it comes to picking out some of the most important JRPGs of all time, you'll hear plenty of people chucking the name Dragon Quest (or Dragon Warrior as it was once called) at you. It's hard to argue with that, as the gaming series helped put the genre on the map and innovated it in many ways. There's a lot of pressure behind adapting something with a legacy like that, but this series did a great job.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai is a 2020 series adapted from the manga based on the gaming series of the same name. It follows the titular Dai, the only human on an island full of monsters, who dreams of growing up to become a hero.
There are two adaptations of this story, one from 1991 and one in 2020. However, while the original series is great, the updated version takes it a step further with crisp animation, excellent writing and a fun sense of adventure - as the title would suggest.
It really is a must-see anime, and if you choose to watch it (or the original 1991 series as well, for that matter), you're going to have a great time.
