10 Announced Video Games We Haven't Heard From In AGES

Irrational Games

System Shock is a First Person shooter with a Cyberpunk aesthetic that was released in 1994 and has gone on to pave the way for games like Bio-Shock and Deus-Ex and, of course, a sequel of its own. Both games were very well received and it came as no surprise when a third entry was announced in 2015- what has come since has been somewhat more surprising however.

System Shock 3 has fallen into serious development hell since its announcement without being officially cancelled as yet. While NightDive studios still own the rights to the franchise, they actually licenced the rights to the third installment to Otherside Entertainment. Since then an ill-fated relationship with publisher Starbreeze studios seriously slowed progress, only to end with a split between the two partners.

This did not spell the end of System Shock 3, however, as Otherside were undeterred. They soldiered on until February of this year when it was announced that the team working on the game were no longer employed by Otherside. The last official word we've had on this unfortunate game was in May 2020 when it was announced Tencent would be taking it forward, and since then radio silence on System Shock 3.
