Half Life 2: Episode 3 or, as some players would call it, Half Life 3 is perhaps one of the most unusual games currently stuck in development with seemingly no way out. Technically announced in 2006, with the release of Half Life 2: Episode 1, Episode 3 was supposed to round out Valves seminal series of games and it certainly seemed to be on the way after the cliffhanging ending of Episode 2. But then it just never came-
Half Life fans, and there are many, are a long suffering group as the franchise has become almost synonymous with the concept of an unfinished story. To date it is 13 years since one of gaming's most infamous cliff-hanger endings and the painful thing is that fans really don't know where they stand with the continuation of the series.
The follow up effort, whatever title it may take on, has neither been confirmed nor cancelled by Valve, leaving the game and its fans hanging in perpetual limbo with seemingly no end in sight. The Half Life series is a titan of the gaming industry and it would be shame to see it just disappear with no closure, but who knows anymore-
