10 Annoying Video Game Mechanics That Need To Die

3. Un-Killable NPCs

Gamers are... well, psychopaths is a strong word. But you get the point. At some point, everyone drops the heroics and just butchers anyone and anything in their way. And there is nothing worse in a murderous bloodletting rampage than to stumble across an unkillable NPC. It's frustrating and really puts a dampener of what was an otherwise successful slaughter.

It has been so long that you would think that developers would come up with some way to factor in the blatant murderous tendencies of the gaming populace. Or, seeing as we are all about consequences, punish the gamer and completely lock parts of the game off. Do we really need handheld towards the conclusion that murdering random folk is a bad idea?

Even if the game just boots to a fail-state screen like in Dishonored? It's better than them just slumping to the ground and acting like they've been winded and not impaled on a battleaxe!

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
