Mass Effect 2 served up a great mystery from the very start; who are these mysterious insectoid Collectors? What are the Reapers hoping to gain by abducted humans? These two questions were a great driving force for players progressing through the intricate, non-linear story of the second entry in the Mass Effect series. Eventually, Shepherd makes the shocking discovery that the Collectors have been constructing a brand new Reaper, using the genetic material of countless abducted humans. What horror could be the result of this inhumane madness? A cartoonish, unfinished, oversized Terminator apparently. The Human-Reaper hybrid impressed almost noone, and was a bit of an immersion breaker. Don't bother asking why the new Reaper was designed to take the form of a big spooky skeleton, or why the final shot showing the approaching Reaper fleet was made up entirely of Sovereign-style designs. Complaints about the logic of a Human-Reaper aside, the fight itself was also pretty underwhelming. After the exhilaration of performing the suicide mission, the fight just felt dull, generic, and way too easy. Worst of all, the boss just didn't feel like a true culmination of the carefully crafted buildup that preceded it. The questions raised by the baby Human-Reaper were never really answered in Mass Effect 3, leaving the final boss as an anticlimactic blemish on an otherwise fantastic game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKOtMaCHYdQ
