10 Arcade Video Games To Make You Feel Like A Kid Again

7. Shinobi

Ninjas are cool. Except by cool, we of course mean that they're dangerous stealthy murderers, and you shouldn't idolise them. EVER. But despite the moral ambiguity of our masked friends, we still wish we could be one, and none more so than the lovable assassin in Sega's iconic arcade title, Shinobi.

Released back in 1987, the original Shinobi arcade game was the very definition of the classic side-scrolling action genre of that era. As Joe Musashi (heroes names in video games really aren't what they used to be), your task was painfully simple - run from left to right taking out as many bad guys as you can.

You had an endless array of ninja stars to throw at them and best of all, a ninja-kick that came accompanied with Joe shouting "KICK!" every time he performed it. Which isn't that stealthy at all when you think about it.

Shinobi went on to have a varied life outside of the arcades, most notably in the excellent Revenge of Shinobi title on the Mega Drive. But it's the original arcade game that will always be remembered fondly by us wannabe ninjas of the past.

All together now: "KICK!", "KICK!", "KICK!"
