10 Awesome 2021 Video Games You Missed (So Far)

8. Sunlight

Knockout city
Krillbite Studio

Released at the start of the year when everyone was still busy drooling over their shiny new consoles, Sunlight is an eye-wateringly gorgeous "walking simulator" in which players explore a hand-painted forest and collect flowers.

That's it. That's the game.

It might not sound like much, but Sunlight is an ethereal half-hour experience sure to bring players much relaxation in these trying times - a breath of fresh air amid all the violent, chaotic genre games out there.

As you traipse throughout the forest, you'll be guided by the voices of the trees, which reveals the game's jaw-dropping 3D audio design: if you've got a killer surround sound setup or a nice pair of headphones, that alone makes this a stunning experience.

There's little in the way of plot or active gameplay to speak of, but it is a tremendously meditative game in its own right, and one which contains a neat, player-uniting surprise in its final passage.
