10 Awesome Boss Battles (That Tragically Never Happened)

2. Harbinger - Mass Effect 3

Whether you agree that the ending to BioWare's epic Mass Effect trilogy was silly deus ex machina copout or not, it's difficult to excuse this one. During the second installment of the trilogy, players are introduced to Harbinger, the biggest and baddest Reaper there is. He attacked Commander Shepard from behind the scenes, and ominously declared that he was "assuming direct control". It painted Harbinger as a deadly threat, and one that Shepard would eventually have to face head on. But when Mass Effect 3 was finally released in March of 2012, the final battle was deemed as something of an dud. Instead of the rather talky ending, it stands to reason that a huge final battle against Harbinger was on its way. After all, Mass Effect was built on each subsequent game upping the scale, and the third entry was no different. Hell, the first twenty-thirty minutes feature Shepard and Anderson in the middle of a full-scale Reaper invasion. It's just a tad disappointing that we never get to go up against the ultimate in Mass Effect baddies. Forget the extended edition, where's my epic Harbinger fight?!
