10 Awesome Cancelled Video Games From Famous Franchises

4. Silent Hills

The story surrounding Silent Hills is one that hardly needs introduction, given that the pain of its cancellation is still being felt by all of us who were blown away by that fantastic P.T. demo.

Silent Hills was set to be a tantalising collaboration between Guillermo Del Toro and Hideo Kojima that looked on course to revive the ailing horror franchise. Not much was known about the game itself, except that it would star The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus as the protagonist, and would run on the Fox Engine (used for The Phantom Pain).

The P.T. interactive trailer for Silent Hills was quite possibly the most terrifying horror experience ever done in the medium, throwing players into an ominous house haunted by the vengeful ghost of a woman.

In March 2015 however, following rumours of terrible working conditions at Konami and a rift with Kojima's in-house development studio, Kojima Productions, it was confirmed that Silent Hills was cancelled and that Kojima would be leaving the company, condemning the franchise to a truly horrifying fate.
