10 Awesome Features In Upcoming Video Games We Can't Wait To Use
6. Creation Engine 2 - Starfield & The Elder Scrolls VI
Bethesda has been using their Creation Engine for well over a decade to produce a bevy of AAA games such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76, yet it's fair to say that even the studio's most hardcore fans feel that V1 of the engine started showing its age years ago.
For every player who defends Fallout 4's janky gameplay as "charming", there's someone who finds it embarrassing that a studio recently sold to Microsoft for $7.5 billion can't deliver more mechanically robust experiences.
But that all seems set to change with Bethesda's next two games, Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI, which are being developed with Creation Engine 2.
Studio head Todd Howard has promised that these hugely anticipated titles will enjoy significant benefits from the reworked engine.
The gameplay footage from Starfield appears to support this, what with the majorly overhauled character animations and seemingly more dynamic NPC AI.
As ever we won't know for sure precisely how much of a leap it is from Creative Engine 1 until we're playing for ourselves, but considering that Bethesda has been working on the new engine for several years now, it's easy to be somewhat optimistic.
