10 Awesome Games You Definitely Missed In 2024
8. Indika
One thing's for sure, you've never played a game quite like Indika.
This third-person adventure game puts players in the shoes of the titular nun as she attempts to acclimate to life in a monastery, all while combatting the intrusive presence of the Devil himself.
A deeply twisted meditation on the destructive potential of faith, Indika is far from the mere walking simulator you might expect from its marketing.
The game leaps from forcing players to perform intentionally menial tasks to reflect the drudgery of monastic life, to suddenly turning into an 8-bit platformer, and then briefly becoming many other types of game that shouldn't be spoiled here.
The result is a deeply weird and unpredictable title that's acutely aware of the medium's most tired, tropey gameplay mechanics, and clearly has a lot of fun making light of them.
Combine this with unique cinematography and excellent voice acting, and Indika is a short-but-sweet outing you won't soon forget - if you're among the few who bother to play it, that is.
