10 Awesome Games You Definitely Missed In 2024
7. UFO 50
Perhaps no other video game in 2024 was quite as value-rich as UFO 50 - a compendium of 50 retro-styled 8-bit games presented as developed by a fictional company, UFO Soft.
These titles span all manner of genres, from shooters to platformers and RPGs, with half of the games also including multiplayer functionality of some kind.
What's truly impressive about UFO 50 is the shockingly high hit-rate of the available titles - there's scarcely little filler among the 50 games, and the majority of them offer a clever spin on their respective genres despite the overall throwback aesthetic.
Developer Mossmouth LLC spent seven years creating the anthology project, and given the mind-boggling breadth and depth of the games, it was certainly time well spent.
UFO 50 released to rave reviews from critics back in September, though it's sadly flown rather under the radar outside of its firmly defined niche. In a just world, it'd be battling the big hitters for Game of the Year plaudits.
If you're even a casual fan of retro games, this is an undeniable must-buy.
