10 Awesome Hidden Video Game Modes You Totally Missed
5. Animal Kingdom - Crusader Kings II
Anyone who has ever played a Crusader Kings game can agree that the series is as historically accurate as a tiger is an adorable house cat. Sure, the games include actual historical events, but on the other hand, nothing stops them from generating a scenario where Aztecs invade the coasts of Spain or the Pope becomes the leader of a cannibalistic cabal.
However, messing with the timeline is only one way in which you can make your Crusader Kings campaigns more interesting. There is a secret game mode that allows you to turn every single person in the world into an animal and rule your very own Labrador country with an iron paw.
The mode is a special Easter egg that you can trigger when generating a random world. To do this, you need to switch the culture generation setting a few times until it switches to the secret "Animal Kingdoms" mode.
Once your zoomorphic world is generated, you can play as dogs, cats, horses, hedgehogs, and even dragons. To make things even better, all the nations in the world change their names to more animal-appropriate ones like "Meowland" and "Dogsbury."
It's a true dog-eat-dog world. If by "eat" you mean "usurp their throne."
